WATCH OUT FOR YOUR HANDS!
This is just a small reminder. When we want to play castanets, it’s important to take care of our hands!

Now is a good time to pause...
...and realize that our hands are learning a completely new movement they’re not used to. That’s why it’s important not to rush or push them! AS SOON AS YOU FEEL YOUR HANDS GETTING TIRED, TAKE A BREAK OR TRY AGAIN TOMORROW.
Trust me, listening to your body pays off...
I worked as a waitress in a restaurant. After a month, one of my hands started to hurt a little. I didn’t think much of it and kept taking more shifts. What one hand couldn’t handle, the other took over. Within a week, I couldn’t move my hands. And the problems stayed with me for several months. Now, I know very well that I should have stopped immediately, and I would have spared myself a lot of trouble.
A few rules for healthy hands:
- Play when your hands are warmed up. If you come home with cold hands, wait a bit before you start. Similarly, if you want to play in the morning, take a moment to warm up your hands first.
- Stretch your hands before and after playing. It’s like weight training—nobody starts lifting dumbbells out of nowhere.
- Don’t rush yourself. If your hands start to hurt, it’s a sign to slow down.
